Warning ! This may turn in to one emotional and sentimental post.
So it’s one year since the inception of this, umm, team and blog. After six months of listening to countless taunts from my mum for sitting at home and fighting with a couple of people who mattered the most in my life at that phase of time, I was sitting all alone having given my final exam of the session when suddenly the messenger pop-up showed an email from KarachiTips. To be honest, I never really expected and filled that form in desperation because I knew I sucked when it comes to English language and writing. If you don’t believe, always feel free to read the dumbest pieces I could write, it’s available in archive !
Anyways, with the addition in that group, I was introduced to awesome Karachiites I’d have never known otherwise. Saad, Ali, Shahzal, Hira, Swaleha and our MSN convos began. Met this chocolaty friend Sadiya at the first meetup ❤ And not to forget, the trio behind this great idea. I remember how formal I was at the first meet up but since then, it felt like we’ve known each other for so long. Twitter convos, that early morning revival of childhood memories and many more things that I’m unable to recall right now. Going to Twitter jails for trending something started by KarachiTips, the first Birthday party of KT and those couple of hangouts that we had, it was some fun I had never imagined.
Between all this, at one point of time, I forgot that there are still some kids who are a part of this team. Kids who were so much proud of being in the team that they either forgot to shave their newly grown hair or thought that everyone could be shut up with a certain “K.”
But as they say, not everyone is the same. Talking about kids, I was fortunate enough to meet the most mature teenager I have seen to date, in my partner. I was awestruck when I first read the draft of “Aanties” and immediately stopped working on my draft. Now, I feel proud to regard Ayela as my best friend.
There are more people who have been a great contribution to this team and to my personal growth. Hina Jee, who improved my posts to near perfection and taught me so much with her editing. Shahzaib for the awesome comics and everyone else related to our posts.
On another note, it feels sad that people suddenly stopped working as winter vacations finished for many. I myself got caught up in classes but tried to keep the flow of posts running. Still remember that time when I had a month’s posts edited and ready to be published. As they say, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. We’ll come back stronger and be better than before.
So, everyone, who is still a part of this team and reading it, Happy 1st anniversary of the KarachiTips Blog Team. Hey Abdullah, Bilal and Baakh, some celebration maybe? 😀
p.s. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone.
